Despite being a mass tourism destination, the island of Gran Canaria boast as many well kept secrets as to keep you busy and eyes wide open for a while. Beyond the stunning sand dunes, discos and resorts of Maspalomas, where gay crowds from all over Europe get looking for fun and the Scandinavians get looking for warm winters , there is a world of ravines, hills, hidden  waterfalls, little villages and people still living in caves for those who dare to wander off the beaten track. Las Palmas, the biggest city of the Canary Islands boast a never-ending night life, a hectic harbour activity and a dream of a beach sheltered from the winds, the currents and the waves of the Atlantic where swimming and sunbathing is as delightful in mid-summer as it is in mid-winter.
